Galway Yoga Centre - HomeThe Galway Yoga Centre was established in 1986 by Swami Shraddhamurti and Swami Chetanmurti. It is inspired by their teacher Swami Satyananda, one of the great yoga masters of our time. All the techniques that are taught here are from the ancient tantric teachings of Swami Satyananda.
Swami Shraddhamurti is from Co Mayo and Swami Chetanmurti is from Denmark. Swami Janakananda was our first teacher who we encountered while living in the Scandinavian Yoga and Meditation School, Denmark. We met Swami Satyananda there and were initiated by him into Sannyasa (a person who dedicates their life to yoga) in 1982 during a stay in India in the Munger ashram. We started teaching Yoga and Meditation in Copenhagen, after undergoing a Teacher Training course with Guni Martin, one of Swami Satyananda's students in Denmark. A few years later we moved to Galway, Ireland and have been teaching there ever since. We have also been training yoga teachers since 1990 at the centre in Galway.
